L. R. Baggs Banjo Pickup Introduced at Winter NAMM 2016
L. R. Baggs Banjo Pickup
Leveraging the unitary design that made our Violin Pickup a staple for thousands of performing musicians, we now mold our same miniature vibration sensor directly into a 5/8” banjo bridge. As an integral part of the bridge, the pickup captures inherent characteristics of the instrument fluently at the source without altering any acoustic properties. It comes with a fully custom jack and mounting system we engineered to be reliable, easy to install, and aesthetically compatible with the finest instruments.
The L.R. Baggs Bridge Transducer 5-String Banjo Pickup provides the maximum possible sensitivity by using specially designed transducers built directly into a high quality maple replacement bridge. Building the sensors into the bridge avoids the hollow, "tin can" sound that is typical of stick-on transducers, and provides the best possible string-to-pickup sensitivity and string separation. The result is a clean, bright sound with excellent definition and clarity.
The L.R. Baggs Bridge Transducer Banjo Pickup also provides maximum control of feedback, as the sensors do not directly interact with the head of the banjo, which is where most feedback problems arise. This also reduces extraneous body noise, which reduces harshness often associated with banjo pickup systems.
This pickup system can be used without a preamp with most amplifiers, but for best results we recommend the use of a high quality preamp/EQ, such as the L.R. Baggs Venue DI or the L.R. Baggs Para Acoustic DI.
Designed for 5 String Banjos.
