The Spanish tradition in guitar luthiership is renowned worldwide. But nowadays many instruments with fancy fantasy names bid out their instruments to be made by less known manufactures in countries where workers are paid pennies per hour, with disappointing results. This is different with the Almansa guitars, named after the town at the border to Castilia-La Mancha where the company is based. First-class classical,  flamenco,  lutes and Bandurrias are still made following the traditional manufacturing procedures by craftsman trained in a part of the world that had produced the finest luthiers generation after generation..  All this providing a quality that is amazing regardless of the price.

This superb sounding instrument constructed on a full scale of 650mm.  The photos do not do justice to show of the master luthier workmanship, design, and exceptional mildly quilted solid German spruce top and an ebony fretboard. Looks and sounds great!

This guitar was handmade in Spain by craftsman trained by the best of the best local master guitar craftsman. It has unusually good separation of voicing even when playing chordal passages. Balance is perfect with substantial power. This particular guitars most remarkable characteristics is its superb sustain in virtually every register. A pleasant characteristic of Spruce tops. This is a very desirable instrument for both performance and serious student.

This 435’s headstock is gorgeous. There are details not found in the more expensive “Big Name” Spanish manufacturers.  Included are high quality machine-heads. The Cedar neck is reinforced with Ebony. Just like its higher priced Spanish cousins. The Mahogany neck is reinforced with an ebony strip instead of truss rod. Compacter and lighter it conducts the vibration across the instrument and allow the guitar to fully vibrate from the head to bottom of the body. You can feel the guitar vibrate against your body. The sound is rich, clear and extremely versatile. The projection of this Spruce top guitar is outstanding, especially considering its young age.  As this instrument ages the patina of the surface of the spruce top will become more defined and gorgeous.

The Rosewood back and sides on this guitar is exceptional. It is book matched. The graining of the Rosewood on this guitar is very unusual and beautiful.

The Rosette is made of wood and after one look there is no doubt of its Spanish heritage. I counted 9 bands of binding on the outer circle, a beautiful center design that includes the use of reds, grays, black colored woods surrounded by 9 more bands of binding. The highly grained Rosewood bridge complements the Rosewood slotted headstock. The top outer soundboard bindings have a very thin red colored wood that complement the rosette. The book matched Rosewood back have a cedar binding outlining the shape of the back and center of the back. The gold-plated machine heads have marbleized buttons with gold plated hold-down screws.

The tightness of the grain of the German Spruce grain top speaks volumes of how this new instruments voice will continue to improve as it opens up. Almansa’s playability is superior to its higher priced “Big Name” Spanish cousins. The coloration of the sides and back Rosewood is amazing.

The overall craftsmanship is outstanding.

There is nothing else out there that compares quality, sound, playability and price.

Antonia Rose Fretted Instruments was proudly granted a USA Almansa Dealership. As the proprietor of Antonia Rose I made a commitment to the owners of Almansa Guitarras that I would offer both existing and potential Almansa customers stellar customer service. Small shop service and internet prices.

This is not a guitar mass produced in a third world country, displayed in a big box store, played unsupervised, and sold as new with tons of rash. Our internet advertised guitars are never on displayed. They are safely stowed away in an environmentally perfect climate.
